Smart Class
Centers for Common Interactive Cooperation
Smart Class is a model that aims to increase the quality of education and research via expanding the interaction between universities using video conference and Internet technologies.
Goals of Smart Class
§ To form a common working environment with no limits in knowledge, time and space
§ To realize the research and education activities within this working environment
§ To deliver conferences, seminars, certificate programs, undergraduate and graduate lectures
Current Situation in Smart Class
§ Model is developed, contracts are prepared.
§ First smart classes are formed in METU and Süleyman Demirel University.
§ It is integrated into the program of State Planning Organization.
§ In 2003 Fall Term, Prof.Dr. Eres Söylemez delivered “Technics of Mechanism” course to Harran
University.
§ In 2004 Spring Term, Continuing Education Center (SEM) organized Monday Seminars that can be
followed in both METU and Süleyman Demirel University.
§ In 2004-2005 Academic Semester, one graduate and one undergraduate courses are given.
§ Selçuk, Çanakkale, Kocaeli, Mersin, Yüzüncü Yıl Universities gave start to Smart Class Forming
preparations.
